Global Prosperity Wonkcast: Following the Money
The Centre for Global Development re-ran their excellent Global Prosperity wonkcast from March, when Lawrence MacDonald interviewed our director, Owen.
In this wonkcast, Owen explains how making aid data more easily available would improve the aid system as a whole and how this data is especially important and meaningful for the beneficiaries of aid:
“They need to hold their government to account, they need to hold service delivery organizations to account,” he says. “And to do that, they need to know what services they should be expecting, what money is being allocated, what’s being spent, so they can make sure they’re getting the services they need.”
Lawrence and Owen discuss the gaps in making aid transparent-what shortfalls do donors come up against when trying to publish their data and why does it fail to be as effective as it could be?
