The X Factor - Global Development Commons' Development 2.0 challenge

USAID have launched a competition to find the best ideas for using mobile technology for development impact, The USAID Development 2.0 Challenge. The challenge is organized by Global Development Commons, who are working to improve collaboration and knowledge sharing in the international development community through innovative use of technology. The GDC have also recently improved accessibility of USAID information by implementing a google search facility. We’ll follow both GDC and the Development 2.0 challenge with interest.

Have USAID introduced development 2.0 as the new term for the innovative use of technology for development movement? well no actually, I have just found an old post from the private sector development blog that uses the term in 2007, but I like  it anyway

Talking  of competitions – the results of  the power of information taskforce show us a better way competition of ideas for using UK public sector data are due this week. It was a good turn out and some great ideas – the aidinfo entry was one of the 450 entries.

The aidinfo team are quite taken with all these competitions, and are considering launching our own aidinfo competition………watch this space. Don’t wait though – post your ideas on the aidinfo  forum!!
