AWEPA’s conference ‘Promoting African-European Parliamentary Dialogue on Climate, Food Security and Development’ in Stockholm August 09 focused on the role that Parliamentarian’s can play in the lead up to and during COP 15, UN Climate Change Conference, Copenhagen this year. The conference held a number of sessions which examined the link between adaptation and development; institutional architecture; financing the gap; budgetary oversight of climate funds and the way forward to Copenhagen and beyond.

International Parliamentary Conference 'International Development: Scrutinising Aid Effectiveness' Summary Report

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association have produced a summary report on the plenary sessions of the 'Scrutinising Aid Effectiveness' conference held in November 2008. Judith Randel, Development Initiatives spoke at the 'Research Capacities and Knowledge Management' session alongside Stephen Davenport, Development Gateway Foundation.

Are donors on track to met their commitments to increase aid?

Development Initiatives has recently produced a Memorandum to the International Development Committee for the enquiry into Financing for Development. The paper examines ODA data from 2007 to identify whether donors are on track to meet their aid targets committed in 2005.

Publish What You Fund Principles

Publish What You Fund, a campaign formed by international civil society organisations to promote greater aid transparency has recently produced a draft consultation paper. Publish What You Fund advocates that in order for aid to be effective then it must be transparent which requires aid information to be publically available and accessible for individuals, communities, civil society organisations and government bodies.
