Aid data workshops
aidinfo has recently organised and facilitated free aid information workshops in London, Washington, Kampala and The Hague.
A core component of the aidinfo programme is to increase the capacity of potential aid data users, especially amongst southern communities. aidinfo has identified that there is a wealth of statistical aid information 'out there' but it is often difficult to access and use. The workshops provide an opportunity for a range of participants such as donors, civil society organisations, NGO's and citizens to learn how to access the right aid information and use it for their specific purposes.
The focus of the workshop is for participants to learn more about the main statistical systems held by the OECD DAC; how they work, the definitions, and protocols they can use and what they can tell you. The workshop is a two way interactive process with aidinfo sharing its knowledge and information on aid data and participants developing their understanding of aid data processes and systems. The workshops provide an opportunity for participants to comment on aid data from a user perspective, identify data issues and find ways to improve existing systems.
The workshops are based on the specific needs and interest of the participants which are generated from a pre workshop questionnaire. A recent workshop at Oxfam's essential services conference focused on health and education as this was the particpants key area of interest. The result was aid information was put into context by analysing specific sector data which could be used by partcipants as an advocacy tool.
